Another Day, Another Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Choosing between wired and wireless peripherals for your PC can sometimes be a challenge: should you go for lags here and there in exchange for a clean look, or just go with the traditional wired keyboard to enjoy low latency and route that cable someplace else? Whatever the case, the popular choice for gaming on the couch is getting a wireless keyboard for the obvious reason.
Enter the Corsair K63 wireless keyboard that comes bundled with a lapboard. This was actually released by the company at CES in January. It’s a Tenkeyless version with cherry MX red switches which are linear, lack the click and the clack.
It has a blue blacklight, and you can control other aspects such as macros and lighting effect of the keyboard using Corsair’s CUE utility. Other than that, it can be connected using the wireless USB receiver or Bluetooth 4.2. However, if you still wish to plug it in, there’s a wire to plug in.
Corsair states that you can use the keyboard for upto 15 hours before needing to recharge the battery although there’s no mention that it’s with the backlighting turned on or off.
The lapboard has memory foam cushion on the bottom, a wrist wrest and a full-size mousepad on the right.
The K63 wireless keyboard and lapboard combo is available now for $160. If you’re only interested in the keyboard, Corsair sells it as a standalone item for $110. There’s also a special edition model with “ice blue” LED backlighting for the same price.
